What happened, in plain words
The government said the Chinese backed Manhize steelworks had created about 2 000 jobs so far. The first phase cost about one billion United States dollars with another 800 million planned for expansion. Officials forecast up to 25 000 direct jobs and 150 000 indirect jobs at full capacity, though those numbers are projections. The plant makes 600 000 tonnes of carbon steel a year and is the largest new industrial employer in the country.
