Trust and safety

Every advert on this platform is checked by the same written rules before it is shown to anybody or counted in any figure. This page holds those rules, what each employer standing means, and how to report anything that looks wrong.

The one rule. ipcjobs.org will never ask you to pay for a job, for an interview, for training or for placement. Any advert that does is removed from view and from every published number the moment it is reported.

What an employer standing means

An employer account moves through these standings. The standing decides whether that employer can publish at all, and what a job seeker sees next to their name.

StandingCan postCan publishBadge shownWhat it means
UnverifiedNoNoNoneThe account can build adverts and save them as drafts. Nothing can be published until at least the domain is verified.
Domain verifiedYesYesDomain verifiedThe account controls the email domain it claims. Adverts can be published, and the first few are reviewed before they go out.
Organisation verifiedYesYesVerified employerThe organisation itself has been checked against a registration record. Adverts publish immediately and carry the verified badge.
RestrictedYesNoNoneA trust concern is open. Existing adverts are hidden or carry a warning, and nothing new goes live until the concern is closed.
SuspendedNoNoNoneThe account cannot post. Adverts are withdrawn from view and from every published figure.

The checks every advert passes through

A critical rule quarantines an advert, which means it disappears from search and from every published figure until a person has checked it. A rule below critical lowers the advert trust score and pushes it down the results.

The advert asks the applicant for moneycriticalTaken out of viewAsking a job seeker to pay a registration, processing, interview, training or placement fee is a recruitment fraud pattern. An advert that does this is removed from view and from every published number until it is checked by a person.
The advert points to a shortened or credential harvesting linkcriticalTaken out of viewLink shorteners hide where an applicant is actually being sent, and a request for bank or card details in an advert has no legitimate purpose. Both are treated as phishing until proven otherwise.
The advert appears to use an employer name it does not belong tocriticalTaken out of viewWhere the employer name in an advert does not match the domain the application is sent to, and the employer is not verified on the platform, the advert is held for a person to check.
The notice is not an advertisement for a jobcriticalTaken out of viewThe boards we read carry calls for research proposals, invitations to tender and terms of reference alongside the vacancies. Those are not work, and a person who applies to one as though it were has been misled by us. A notice that reads as a procurement notice rather than a vacancy is taken off the board and out of every published figure until a person has looked at it.
Applications are routed only through a personal messaging accounthighFlagged and scored downA vacancy that can only be answered through a personal messaging account leaves the applicant with no record and no recourse. It is flagged and its trust score is reduced.
The pay promised is not plausible for the work describedhighFlagged and scored downVery high pay attached to work needing no experience is a long standing lure. It is flagged for review and the score is reduced.
The original advert can no longer be reachedmediumFlagged and scored downAn external advert whose source page no longer resolves cannot be verified, so it is flagged, its score falls, and it drops out of the freshest results.
The advert has not been seen again since it was collectedlowFlagged and scored downExternal adverts are revisited on a schedule. One that has not been confirmed within its revalidation window is marked as unconfirmed rather than presented as current.
A member of the public reported the adverthighFlagged and scored downReports do not remove an advert by themselves. Three or more independent reports on the same advert quarantine it automatically, pending a person looking at it.

Reporting an advert

Every advert page carries a report control. You do not need an account and you do not have to give your name. These are the reasons you can pick from.

  1. 1It asks me to pay money
  2. 2The employer does not exist or is being impersonated
  3. 3The apply link is broken or goes somewhere unexpected
  4. 4The job is not real
  5. 5The advert is a duplicate of another one here
  6. 6The pay or the terms are described dishonestly
  7. 7The advert is discriminatory
  8. 8Something else
Read thisA quarantined advert is not deleted. It is kept, marked, and excluded from every figure on this platform so that no dashboard is ever built on records a person has flagged as wrong.
