Workers compensation is paid entirely by the employer at a rate set by industry risk
Safety and social security. Accident Prevention and Workers Compensation Scheme contributions
In plain words
The workers compensation scheme is funded by the employer alone. Nothing is deducted from the employee. The rate depends on how risky the industry is, commonly between one and two and a half percent of basic wages.
Unlike the pension scheme there is no earnings ceiling, so the levy is calculated on total basic wages. The rate is assigned from the risk index for the employer industrial classification, so a mine and an office employer pay different rates.
Applies to: All employers in covered employment
