Planning Technician (Grade 8)

Key Responsibilities

• Maintaining an up-to-date inventory of departmental records.
• Assisting in the preparation of the district annual development plan and strategic plan as well as rolling plans
• Producing layout plans for Rural Service Centers and business centers in conjunction with the head of department.
• Assist in the development of local plans and excision of communal land.
• Facilitating pegging of stands at R.S.C's and business centers in consultation with the Department of Spatial Planning and Development.
• To conduct development control in the district.
• Conduct site inspections and feasibility assessments for proposed developments.
• Issue enforcement orders and prohibition orders and recommend demolition orders for non- compliance with model building - laws.
• Assessment of building plans.
• Any other Council duty assigned by the Supervisor

Requirements

• National Diploma in Regional and Urban Planning equivalent and a higher qualification is an added advantage.
• At least two years' experience in a similar role in a Local Authority environment or Public Sector
• District computer skills such as AUTOCAD, GIS and Survey.
• Membership of a professional body is an added advantage.
• Police clearance
• Must be at least 25 years of age.
