Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Climate and Development (10 Positions)

The Africa Climate Collaborative at the University of Cape Town (UCT), hosted by the African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI), is inviting applications for 10 postdoctoral research fellowships through its Postdoctoral Researcher Programme (PRP) in Climate and Development.

The three-year programme supports recent African PhD graduates in developing as independent researchers. Fellows work under the guidance of an experienced UCT researcher and participate in a structured researcher development programme.

The cohort model also gives fellows opportunities for peer learning throughout the fellowship.

Successful applicants will be based in the department or research lab of their primary mentor.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Hold a completed PhD in a discipline relevant to climate and development in Africa, and to the discipline specified for their chosen research topic.
• Be a citizen of an African country. African citizens currently residing outside the continent are also eligible.
• Be under 35 years old on 1 February 2027. Preference will be given to applicants who meet this age criterion.
• Apply for one research topic only . Multiple applications may result in disqualification.

Salary

R380,000 per annum (tax-free stipend)
