Purpose of the Position

Conduct systematic, objective operational, financial and compliance audits across all departments, evaluating internal controls and adherence to policies and statutes.

Key Responsibilities

• Audit Programme Preparation: Analyse risks in audit areas, set engagement objectives, identify testing procedures and prepare detailed audit programmes.
• Audit Fieldwork: Review procedure manuals, verify assets and inventory, interview process owners, apply statistical sampling and trace transactions in SAP and Sage Evolution.
• Audit Reporting: Synthesise audit evidence into balanced findings with risk implications and practical recommendations; participate in exit meetings with management.
• Annual Audit Planning: Assist in preparing the annual internal audit plan by analysing risk registers and the Commission's audit universe.
• Recommendation Follow-Up: Monitor implementation of internal and external audit recommendations and report outstanding risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Auditing and Risk Management, Finance, Economics or a recognised equivalent.
• Progress towards or possession of a professional auditing qualification (CIA, ACCA, CIMA) is an added advantage.
• Minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in internal auditing or financial inspection in the Public Sector.
• Sound working knowledge of public finance management systems and public sector governance.
