Key Responsibilities

• Risk-Based Audit Planning and Execution: Prepare and implement an annual risk-based internal audit plan aligned with the Commission's strategic goals and the IIA International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF); oversee operational, financial and compliance audits.
• Audit Reporting and Follow-Up: Direct the preparation of objective, evidence-based audit reports on control deficiencies and risks, with practical recommendations; track implementation of internal and external audit action plans.
• Risk and Controls Advisory: Work with heads of department to embed internal controls and risk mitigation into operational workflows, procurement processes and financial systems (e.g. SAP, Sage).
• Audit Committee Support: Advise the Audit Committee and compile quarterly internal audit packs, governance briefs and external auditor liaison reports.
• Leadership and Quality Assurance: Supervise internal audit staff, conduct performance appraisals, lead capacity building and uphold professional auditing ethics and objectivity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Internal Auditing, Finance, Risk Management or a recognised equivalent.
• A relevant Master's degree (MBA, MBL, MSc in Risk Management, Finance or Auditing) is an added advantage.
• Full professional qualification and membership (e.g. CIA, ACCA, CIMA, CA(Z)/ICAZ).
• Minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience in internal auditing, financial compliance or risk assurance in the public sector or an established corporate organisation.
