Chief Storekeeper

Sabi Gold Mine invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the above position. The successful candidate will run the mine's stores function, ensuring the right materials are available at the right time while safeguarding inventory and controlling costs.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the receipt, storage and issuing of all stores items
• Supervising stores staff and allocating duties
• Maintaining accurate stock records and inventory system data
• Setting and monitoring minimum, maximum and re-order levels to prevent stock-outs
• Conducting periodic stock counts and reconciling variances
• Controlling stock losses and managing obsolete and slow-moving items
• Ensuring safe storage, labelling and handling of hazardous materials, fuel and reagents
• Liaising with Procurement on requisitions, orders and supplier deliveries
• Verifying goods received against orders and quality specifications
• Ensuring compliance with stores procedures, internal controls and audit requirements
• Supporting inventory budgeting and cost control
• Maintaining good housekeeping and SHEQ standards in the stores
• Generating stores and inventory performance reports
• Training and developing stores personnel

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Purchasing & Supply, Logistics or Supply Chain Management
• A professional qualification such as CIPS will be an added advantage
• At least 5 years' stores experience in a mining environment, 2 of them at supervisory level
• Proficiency in computerised inventory and ERP systems
• Sound knowledge of stock control, warehousing and inventory management practices
• Knowledge of the safe storage of hazardous materials, fuel and process reagents
